The 105-day return claim window Amazon support says it is not current policy
Sellers still quote a window of 45 to 105 days for FBA returns refunded but never received. In October 2026 Amazon Selling Partner Support said 105 is not part of the current policy, and named no other cut-off.
What changed
For a customer return that Amazon refunded but that never came back to the fulfilment centre, you may have read that a claim can be submitted between 45 and 105 days after the refund. In October 2026 Amazon Selling Partner Support told us the 105-day window is not part of the current FBA reimbursement policy.
What stands is the automatic payment at day 45. After that, support says to contact them and ask them to investigate the order. Amazon did not name a later cut-off.
This applies to amazon.in FBA. It is about returns refunded to the buyer and not received back. Easy Ship and Self-Ship returns run on the SAFE-T clocks, which this post does not change.
What the two sources say
The 105 comes from an Amazon India announcement on the seller forums. According to the post, it took effect in January 2025. It says: "An FBA customer returns claim can be submitted between 45-105 days after the customer refund or replacement date." You can read it in the seller-forum announcement (it is on the Seller Central forums). When we checked on 30 October 2026, the post carried no update from Amazon.
Amazon's current lost inventory reimbursement policy has a "Lost in transit" row. It covers an item lost on the way to the buyer or on the way back to the fulfilment centre as a return, and it is automated: Amazon reimburses if the item is not back within 45 days of the refund date. For an original order where a replacement was sent instead, the 45 days run from the replacement order date. The page gives no later day for these.

The announcement also gives 15 to 75 days from shipment creation for removals lost in transit, which today's policy page does not match (that page gives 30 days from the date the removal order shipped). That is a reason to doubt the announcement is still current, though Amazon has not said so.
What Amazon has not told us
We opened a case with Selling Partner Support and asked about the 105 days. On 26 October 2026 they answered that the 105-day window is not part of the current FBA reimbursement policy; that the policy is an automatic reimbursement within 45 days of the refund date; and that if it has not been paid in that time, we should contact Selling Partner Support to investigate the order. We also asked about the earliest day a manual claim can be submitted. The reply named none, and it named no closing day either.
This is a frontline reply from support, not a policy page, and it does not say there is no deadline. Amazon can change its policy page, and a different agent could answer differently. We are reporting what we were told, and the page will be updated if Amazon's policy page changes.
Two payments, day 48 and day 53
In one seller's account, two refunded FBA returns were reimbursed after day 45. The first was refunded on 28 July 2026 and reimbursed on 14 September: day 48. The second was refunded on 3 August and reimbursed on 25 September: day 53. Support's reply described both as not automatic, raised manually after the seller contacted support.
Two orders show that a manual route exists after day 45. They do not show how often Amazon pays, how long it takes, or what a seller with a later claim would get. The reimbursement report shows what Amazon paid, not what it missed.
What to do now
Our advice, not Amazon's: do not wait for day 105, because Amazon's current policy does not mention that day, and do not assume there is no limit either.
- Write down the refund date (or the replacement order date) for each refunded return that has not come back.
- Check each one on day 45, against the Reimbursements report, by Amazon Order ID.
- If it has not been paid, raise a case with Selling Partner Support that week (Help, then Manage support cases) and ask them to investigate the order.
The reimbursement audit routine puts this check in the monthly pass, and the FBA reimbursements guide has the full table of what Amazon reimburses automatically.
Where Unilytic fits
Unilytic's Returns Reconciliation page lists FBA returns that were refunded but have not been received, with a claim-window label on each line. The day it currently shows as the closing day for these is 105. That figure comes from the older announcement, not from Amazon's current policy, so treat a "closed" label on an FBA line as a prompt to ask Amazon support, not as a deadline. Unilytic does not file claims.
See FBA reimbursement tracking for what the page does and does not cover.
Questions sellers ask
Is there a 105-day window to claim a refunded FBA return that never came back on amazon.in?
Not in Amazon's current policy, according to Amazon Selling Partner Support in October 2026. A January 2025 seller-forum announcement said a claim could be submitted between 45 and 105 days after the customer refund or replacement date. When we asked about the 105 days, support answered that it is not part of the current FBA reimbursement policy. The policy page itself lists only the automatic payment at 45 days.
When does Amazon reimburse an FBA return that was refunded but never reached the fulfilment centre?
Amazon's lost inventory reimbursement policy covers it under "Lost in transit" and makes it automatic: Amazon reimburses if the item is not back at the fulfilment centre within 45 days of the refund date. If Amazon sent a replacement instead of refunding, the 45 days count from the replacement order date.
What do I do if day 45 has passed and the return has not been reimbursed?
Contact Selling Partner Support and ask them to investigate the order. That is the step Amazon's support reply gave us. In Seller Central, Help, then Manage support cases, is where support cases are opened. Keep the refund date, the order ID and the date you checked.
Is there a last day to ask for a reimbursement after day 45?
Amazon has not named one. The policy page gives only the 45 days, and when we asked about the earliest day to submit a manual claim, the reply named no earliest day and no closing day. That is not the same as saying there is no limit, so our advice is to raise it in the week it passes day 45.
FBA reimbursements in India
Amazon now pays some losses without a case - but its report only shows what it paid, never what it missed. How to read the reimbursement report, what Amazon pays for a lost unit, and how to find what is still owed.
The reimbursement audit routine
Amazon's shortest claim windows are 7 and 15 days, so a monthly check alone is too slow for some of them. A three-pass routine built from those clocks, the reports to pull, and a deadline log.
